Shipscanners
Shipscanners let you scan a Ship to see what is inside. The simple ones may be bought at any AI station, whereas others are harder to come by.
Item Scanners will show items onboard. Hull Scanners will show Hull Class, Shields, Inbuilt Resist, and Resists from diffusers.

Planet Scanners
lets you see the resources on a planet or moon. In general power 10 planet scanners can see most all tier 2 resources while tier 3 resources require a random amount of penetrating power from 10 to 21 to discover. For example while very rare some tier 3 resources can be found with power 10 scanners, and others require power 21 to see them making them virtually unfindable through normal scanning measures. In general the higher the scanning power over 10 the more likely you are to discover tier 3 resources.
