War
When two teams declare war, a number of different things occur. Firstly, all bases, drones, and other player assets of one team become aggressive towards the other. Secondly, the PvP range is increased, meaning some players that previously could not attack each other due to range restrictions now can. Thirdly, declaring war on another team means that owned galaxies can easily be taken over, thereby allowing one team to expand its territory (at the risk of losing its own, of course).
Once war has been declared on a team, a message will pop up in their team chat announcing your declaration of war. A 1-hour grace period immediately begins after the declaration of a war. During this time, your team's assets will not be aggressive to the enemy team and the PvP ranges will not change until the hour passes.
Declaring war on another team costs credits depending on a number of different factors. Generally, declaring war is expensive, not just in the act itself, but the aftermath as well. Because of this most teams avoid it. However, there have been many large wars in Star Sonata history, some of which rendered entire chains of galaxies dead and deserted. Sometimes war is unavoidable, and if the leadership of a team decides that it is necessary, they will require the War Mongering skill to do so. Every level of War Mongering will reduce the amount of credits taken from team funds for any active wars by 5% per level. You will also require the similarly named Warmongering skill, which is a team skill (not a player skill!) that can be trained by any councillors and the director through the team UI.
