PvP Range is the difference in levels of who you can attack and vice versa . The range broadens as you go into higher Danger Factor galaxies, and also if there is a declared war between the two pvpers. This restriction also affects the ability to attack any possession of another player.

Your PvP range is also limited by Glory and Infamy.

How to calculate PvP range:

First all levels are capped at 2200 for PvP range calculations. Players with a level higher than 2200 are treated as level 2200 for the purposes of PvP.

PvP is allowed if the lower level player is within a certain % of the other player's level. This % is calculated the following way:

1. The Danger Factor (DF) of the galaxy adds 20% to 65%. DF 0-25 adds 20%, DF 26-75 adds 35%, DF 76-125 adds 50%, and DF 126+ adds 65%. This corresponds to the warp navigation levels associated with those DFs.

2. An active war adds 15%. This goes both ways: if both teams have declared war on each other 30% is added; if one team has declared war on the other 15% is added.

3. A team claiming Emperor will add 30% both to attacking other teams and to other teams attacking them. The active emperor will not affect PvP between two non-Emperor teams.

Example: a level 5000 player in DF 300. Their effective level is 2200 and the DF gives 65% PvP range. They can't attack players level (2200 * (1-0.65)) = 770 or below. Warring the player or the team they are on adds 15%, which reduces the safe level to (2200 * (1-0.8)) = 440. A two way war or either player being on the active Emp team will lower the level further to (2200 * (1-0.95)) = 110. With all these effects stacked the safe level can be reduced to 0 at a DF as low as 76.

PvP range based on Glory and Infamy is simpler. You cannot attack a player if you meet these 2 requirements: your Infamy is higher than their Glory, and your Infamy is higher than their Infamy divided by 2. Note that this PvP block is not applied if they have hate, from attacking you or your squad.
