The Basil is a build-able ship and common AI controlled enemy, as an enemy it is usually Single fire, or double multifire. AI Basils are about level 350 for single-fire, or 560 for Multi-fire Basils. As a player owned ship it is available from the Blueprint and Commod dropped off of the Bonnet Uber Ai Stede Bonnet, or may be captured. The capped Basil comes with some nice basil only sticky gear..

Maximum Danger factor the Multi-fire AI Basils can go seems to be DF190.
