Universe Reset Guide

Did you just get the announcement that a universe reset is a few weeks away and have no clue what we’re talking about? Never fear, that’s what this handy guide is for! A universe reset is a mechanic that randomizes galaxies every 3-4 months. There are some special galaxies with content that will remain, but their location may change! The time of the reset is largely player influenced by the Alien Invasion and whether or not players can defend the universe!

As a player your ships, skills, and levels will carry over, but your bases will not!

What you should do before a Universe Reset

Pack your bases! Since player deployed bases will be destroyed at the universe reset, you should pack up all the items on the base to use them next universe. There are some items in game that will help you with this task.

Scoop your permanent drones! Any drones left behind will be destroyed just like bases.

Dock your slaves at an AI base! Universe Resets can do funky things to slaves, and while slaves should carry over, it is always best to dock them to be on the safe side.

Stock up on any commodities you might need at the beginning of the universe. If you use fuel for your ship, make sure to store some extra. If you build colonies, you might bring along some extra peasants.

If you are on a team, and responsible for setting up the Headquarters, you should head to Free Market and pick up a Team HQ or Advanced Team HQ base kit.

If you plan on trying to get territory, make sure you’re in a ship that you can get around in. It’s always a mad dash for territory at the start of the universe, and most non-recon classes create scout ships that they can use to get around faster.

What you should do after a Universe Reset

When the servers come back online it is a mad dash to discover territory and establish your foothold in the galaxy. Solo players can explore the universe to gain enormous amounts of experience points as the first person to discover a galaxy gets more exp than usual.

At first all your docked ships will not be docked at any station, when you dock at an AI base you'll be prompted on whether or not you'd like to dock all your ships there. If you happen to dock in a bad location, you can type in /limbo into the chat while docked at a different base to move all your ships there instead, this only works once and within the first 24 hours of the universe however.
