Gear Quality Explained

In Star Sonata gear is ranked not just according to its tech level but its quality as well.

While it may be easy to conflate quality with difficulty to obtain this is not always the case with regards to how gear is ranked. To understand the gear rating system it is easiest to look at tech level and then the quality of a particular item within that tech level. It is for this reason you can and will see lower quality gear that has better stat's than higher quality but lower tech gear.

The dev team use's the quality system to determine how much stat's may be assigned to a particular piece of gear.

Legendary

Junk quality is the lowest of all quality tiers. It is easy to obtain and meant to be sold for scrap. Artifact is a special quality tier assigned to ruin extracted items. As a general rule of thumb the higher the quality of an item the more expensive it is to repair. Tech level also comes into account however the quality tier is one of the single largest contributing factors to gear repair costs.
