Fractured Galaxies

An example galaxy map icon for a Fractured Galaxy LACS F6723

Fractured Galaxies are specially named and icon-ed Wild Space galaxies where the Galaxy Ownership system does not apply. These galaxies cannot be owned, and are open to PvP combat, albeit with a strict but more open set of rules. Additionally, you can find the new Goop resource to extract, although because of a limited amount of these galaxies, competition is fierce.

Resources

The resources in the galaxy are typical for the rarity except with the addition of Goop and Goop Juice are treated as industrial commodities:

  • Cannot be transwarped
  • Cannot be put in storage
  • Will decay at universe death
  • Drop on death

Benefits

Goop is extracted from fractured galaxies, requiring tech 20 extractors (Goop Extractor). Goop can be processed into Goop Juice using factories bought from Building Academy Entrance (Goop Factory). Goop Juice can then be used on Command and Control Centers in any galaxy to boost extraction/factory rates by 25%, or on colonies via Goop Colony Blueprint.

Additionally Goop colony boosters can also be purchased to boost initial colony population quickly. Extraction Expert does not effect Goop extraction rate, so it is advised to extract it with the Station Mastery trade skill. Termites do not spawn in fractured galaxies, as Goop mysteriously keeps them away.

Risks

Fractured Galaxies have Attack Windows in which a 90 minute period every 72 hours occurs where stations are able to participate in combat and be vulnerable to attack. Warping into the galaxy will display the time until next attack window in event chat. This attack window is consistent every 72 hours except when Daylight Savings time may shift it by one hour.

Stations can only be placed once the first attack window occurs. Afterwords there is no restriction in placing stations. The following time graph shows when the first attack window will occur, and shows how the galaxy being revealed during the attack window are handled (defers until next attack window).

Ship and permanent drone combat is always enabled regardless of active windows.

A Disrupt & Dismantle Station Kit should be leveraged if the siege of the galaxy is particularly difficult. The debuffs provided by the field generators are powerfuls ways to debuff all station kits in the galaxy, and can be built between attack windows (except before first one).
