The universe reset refers to the process of creating a new universe after the current one comes to an end. A universe reset occurs when the administrators can force a manual reset to clear out the database to make the game run smoother. This happens once every 3-4 months.
What is kept, what is lost
When the game is reset all non-permanent star systems, bases and ships in stasis are lost. However, credits, skills, docked ships and active slaves are all kept.
What happens
After a reset occurs you start off undocked in whatever ship you were in before the reset. Be careful that you're not in a non-functioning storage ship or you might be stuck adrift with few options. A good idea to prevent this situation is to have an engine, shield, and energy equipped on any storage ship. Any slave that was active before the reset will appear automatically set to follow you.
All of your ships appear docked at the very first AI station you dock at. Be exceedingly careful that the first time you dock you are not doing so at a base that is difficult to get to.
Note: Recently it has been put into the game to give a player without an engine an equipped coalfurnace to maneuver their ship. This will happen even if you do not have enough space to do so, which will end up overloading your ship.
