If you have 7 MRE Factorys there will start to be a small stock pile of Space oats over time, 8 MRE Factorys waists a bit of time off 1 working. To be most efficient you'd need to have 7 equipped for a while while Space oats stock piles and then equip the 8th for some time till the space oats are reduced to low numbers and then un-equip it again, then continue to equip and unequip. This would require far too much micromanagement and would be a waist of time just to save a Ration or two (you'd also need to transfer a worker off the station). So 8 MRE per 15 Harvesters works fine.
