Gear Glue (abbreviated GG) is a special item requiring the equipment skill. The main property of gear glue is its ability to prevent weapons and other items from falling off your ship when you die. Gear glue will protect items of a tech level equal to, or less than, its own tech level. For example, Gear Glue 2 will protect a scoop (tech 0) but it won't protect a Sost radar (tech 3). Gear glue is only available at even tech levels (2, 4, 6, 8, etc.).
Players' gear begins to drop at level 15, so players at leve 14 or lower do not need to use gear glue to protect their items.
The primary trade off with gear glue is its high cost. Each time you die a gear-glue is consumed and replacing the GG can be fairly costly. Each player needs to decide if protecting his or her gear is worth the cost of buying GG. When you are below level 20 you don't need to use Gear Glue.
