Politics

In 2002, Jeff ran as a candidate for the United States Congress in California's 15th Congressional District, under the Libertarian Party. His campaign was under the libertarian ideal that the government should be a minimalistic one, used only to protect the rights of the individuals and to deter and alleviate forceful actions.

Jeff Landauer is against government regulation in economics: a separation of state and economy via free trade. His belief in the elimination of statism is under the concept that the United States government should NOT be able to "regulate businesses", "levy general taxes", "mandate minimum wages", "regulate [...] jobs by issuing licenses", and "determine which buildings can be built where." He expresses a disfavour in graduated income taxes due to forcefully exacting the prosperous to bequeath their wealth to the poor -- an act that does not congratulate personal gains, and should rather be provided by independent charities when deserved.
