These items produce a bubble that absorbs non-ethereal damage that would otherwise hit you. They are attached to your ship for the lifetime of the envelopment or until they are popped from taking too much damage. If the minimum diameter of the envelopment is smaller than your ship, it will be expanded until it covers your ship.
