Freighter is a class of ship. Freighter Class ships are most commonly used for transporting large items such as base gear, and drones for lower level players. They range in hull from 220(Paximinus) to 6050 (Thatch+) hull space and have a wide range of techs and specialties.

The Pax Astronomica is also a freighter, however it is commonly used as a fighting ship due to its heavy resists and its number of weapon slots. Two freighters, the Gelato and the Thatch, have the unique characteristic of not having an engine slot, so they must be towed with a tractor in order to move.

Certain Hull Expanders are limited to this class of ship, and skills such as Merchant and Berserker affect different classes of ships in different ways.
