F2P stands for Free to Play. It is the commonly used term to describe a player who does not pay for their gameplay.
Restrictions
F2P are free-players that 'try out' Star Sonata. They cannot build Bases in the Wild Space layer of space like P2Ps can, leaving them only to build in the Earthforce layer. They can visit the Wild Space layer to trade and explore, but cannot shoot, bring slaves, or deploy drones. They also cannot use any in-built that can damage other players/ai (such as fighters and auras that decrease enemy shields) in Wild Space.
Because of the restrictions to Wild and Perilous Space, free players can't train their core skills all the way up. The maximum levels are as follows:
- Piloting 19 (Rumble 3)
- Weaponry 19 (Nihilite)
- Shielding 19 (Hyper)
- Engine 18 (Nihilite)
- Radar 18 (XYZ)
- Cloaking 15 (Underworld)
- Electrical Engineering 18 (Nihilite)
- Tractoring 16 (Capella)
- Equipment 20 (Copper)
- Remote Control 17 (Beta Antares)
- Drone Deployment 19 (Ruby Steppes)
- Warp Navigation 4 (Paxius)
- Station Management 16 (Handel's Cove and Ruby Steppes)
Additionally, while free players are allowed to obtain Focus and Class skills, they cannot obtain any Trade skills.
Alts and 'Uber Noobs'
Some Free to Play players are not new to Star Sonata. Some are either experienced P2P players who have made a F2P alt for the purpose of killing low-leveled players, or a long time F2P Player known as an Uber Noob. Uber Noobs are disliked by many P2P players, due to the fact they do not contribute monetarily to the development of Star Sonata. Uber Noobs have the side effect of giving all F2P players a bad reputation. Despite this Uber Noobs are commonly the player that help out most newbies and this makes them the "heroes" of many non uber f2p.
