Welcome to Star Sonata!
Congratulations, you have downloaded the client, Started playing the game, run into problems, and gone to the wiki. GOOD JOB! YOU are smarter then 80% of the people I talk to!
Quik Cash
As a starting player, one of your first and continuing problems is going to be how to make money. Most items in game drop from something, but that is not always something you are ready and willing to fight. Buying equipment is necessary, even if only from AI bases. We are going to start with a few qick money making tips to get you some fast cash when you are short.
Auric Sector
One of the fastist and easiest ways to make money is mining gold. In Auric sector there are yellow astroids, shoot them with a moning weapon and scoop them, and you will either get fools gold or gold. The fools gold can be traded in a mission for 35 million credits per 50, while the gold can be sol to players and AI station starting at 5 million a unit.
Tradebot Rentals
If you have Levels in Remote Control and are P2P, you can make a decent mount of money hualing Industrial Commodities for f2p players. Get a couple of Paximinus, put VERY strong engines on them along with trade bots, and then find a player on Earthforce layer selling Steel Girders, Sentient Chatbots, Fusion Cells, or Sub-Shield Buffers. THen, find a base in WIld SPace and set the trade bots up to run back and forth. Players and Bases can be found by typing "/mc Itemname".
Using /mc
Another simple strategy is to look at alot of items on /mc. Not everyone price checks before setting their shop stations up and you can frequintly make money buying at one player shop to sell to another player shop.
Prospecting
Another method is called Prospecting. To do this, you will need 4 things, 3 of which can be bought at Capella Assayers Refinery. First, you are going to need a large hulled ship (1000+) with a large sheiled bank (20k+) and good resists (30%+). Next, you are going to need three items from the Refinery; an EDVAC Advanced Prospecting Scanner, Surveyor's Scanner, and a Drilling Beam. Since engineers get a bonus to tractoring, they are very, very good at prospecting.
Now, hotkey the two scanners. When you enter a system (if nothing is attacking you) hit the EDVAC scanner. it will tell you if any prospectable nodes are in the system. Then, use the surveyors scanner to find what planet they are on, and press "G" to activate the digging beam and extract them.
THe problem with prospecting is that nodes regenerate very slowly, and everyone uses the same nodes, so if someone goes through all of a layers and grabs everything, it will be very hard for anyone else to get anything.
