' Stops your items popping out when your ship goes into stasis. '

Gear Glue (abbreviated GG) was a special item requiring the equipment skill. It has now been replaced by the durability system. The main property of gear glue was its ability to prevent weapons and other items from falling off your ship when you died. Gear glue also protected items of a tech level equal to, or less than, its own tech level. For example, Gear Glue 2 would protect a scoop (tech 0) but it wouldn't protect a Sost Radar (tech 3). Gear glue was only available at even tech levels (2, 4, 6, 8, etc.) and also 21.

Players' gear began to drop at level 15, so players at level 14 or lower did not need to use gear glue to protect their items.

The primary trade off with gear glue was its high cost. Each time you died, a gear-glue was consumed, and replacing the GG could be fairly costly. Each player needed to decide if protecting his or her gear was worth the cost of buying GG. Players below level 20 didn't need to use Gear Glue.
