Suicide is the act of voluntarily destroying your own ship or pod. To accomplish this, press U (default), type "DIE" in the field provided, and press the Yes button. Doing these three steps will cause your ship to immediately blow up or your pod to detonate with all the usual penalties associated with death. Suicide will do nothing if you are already in spirit form.

Why?

Who in adum's name would want to kill their own ship? Well, there are a few situations where death might be desirable:

  • To get rid of a ship (a ship left in stasis will eventually disappear and won't take up one of your 25 docked ship slots).
  • To stop an engine-less ship from drifting off into space with no help in sight (committing suicide is a sure-fire way to stop yourself).
  • To get into Emphatic Biology or Empathy Field.

History

At one point committing suicide while in spirit form would reset your character completely. However, due to numerous accidents that feature was removed.
