Well, there seems to be 2 kinds of Ship scanners now. The old kind scans the inventory and tells you what is IN the ship.
The new kind scans the hull, telling you Hull type, Shield #, Resists on the hull, and resists from diffusers.
I'm calling the new kind Hull scanners.
Edit: Ok, Updated. So the scanners say either hull or item on the ingame description! Yay.
