A screenshot of Lunacy, some of the lunatics and the Asylum.

Lunacy is a star system with one AI controlled star base known as Sonata Asylum. The Asylum in Lunacy houses the dreaded and insane Mad Scientist, so it is never a player-buildable system, the Lunatics would be sane to allow it. The Asylum, traveling on a high speed planet requires superb skill (or crazed lack thereof) to dock at, so it is little wonder that it contains some of the most sought after skills and items in the game. If you're traveling to Lunacy to try your luck admitting yourself, watch out for the tweaks, or you may just end up there for good. Lunacy is also known to drive many mad searching its countless asteroid fields for the addictive and heavy Cloud Mercury.

Be aware that beign in the galaxy while a group is killing Mad Scientist will get you locked out for 3 days. If it looks like a group is goign to kill Mad Scientist, you should leave to avoid getting locked out.

Interesting Facts

  • Lunacy was initially the sole source of Cloud Mercury in the universe (XYZ lacked a source at that time) and had to be mined by hand, this account for the great rarity of Porpoise+ ships. Bedevere is rumoured to have had the first Porpoise+.
  • Initially, Lunacy only had one Butterfly which was non-aggressive and lacked any suicidal tendencies. It was only later that many more were introduced and fitted with self-destructive devices. The Butterfly was never cappable, despite many attempts.
  • Lunacy used to purchase the ship type Serenity for a decent sum, the logic being that no Serenity could match the speed of the base to be sold. Ingenious players got around this by capping as many as possible and docking at Lunacy as their first station, allowing them to sell each ship at leisure. This was reported, and Lunacy swiftly stopped buying the ship.
