Item Durability is a stat present on most core items which effects how well they operate when equipped. On death, durability is lost by every item that has a durability stat and is currently equipped. There is a UI indicator that displays the lowest durability item held within the inventory. Items with less than 100% durability cannot be sold. A player can repair items while undocked for double the credit price if they have been outside of combat for one minute. Doing so will root the player in place for five seconds. Parasite damage will reset the countdown till a player is recognized as outside of a combat situation, even if they are healing parasites.

The effects of durability loss vary by type of item but generally effect the item's stats at two different levels: Below 50% and below 10%. This means repair is usually unnecessary until the durability UI indicator shows less than 50% as it uses the durability of the most damaged item in a player's inventory. Below is a table of how durability effects each type of item.

Item Damage

The durability of items is modified by several sources. Without Nanotech Plating, death will cause 5% damage to all susceptible items in a players inventory excluding drones and fighters. This amount sometimes increases or decreases as part of special events. Towing will also impart damage on susceptible items. Unstable overloaders have a chance to damage your weapon while firing (see overloaders).
