Drones have just received a change in their resists. This page will be modified to reflect these changes soon.
Drones are independent attack platforms requiring the skill Drone Deployment to use. Drones are often used for defending bases or fighting AI enemies. There are two basic "types" of drones; permanent and temporary. Permanent drones, ones with an "unlimited" time span, are used as part of a star-system defense strategy. Temporary drones, on the other hand, are primarily used as an offensive weapon. Drones can be augmented by targeting the drone you want to modify, and tossing (while over the drone) an augmenter with a tech level less than or equal to your Astral Injection skill.
To start using drones you must first obtain the Drone Deployment skill (shortened to "DD" in-game). Also, you will need a Drone Scoop, bought from any AI station. This is used simply to scoop any drones you deploy.
Engineer's sub-skill Drone Mastery gives 3% weighted combat bonus to non-permanent drones. Station Mastery gives 2% bonus to stats of permanent drones.
- TL - Tech level for each drone.
- Weapon - Weapon equipped for each drone.
- LifeSpan - How long each drone will last in minutes. Note that some are unlimited.
- Elec - How much energy is used on deploying the drone.
- Scoopable - Whether or not the drone can be picked up after deploying it.

Permanent Drones
These drones are for defensive purposes. They have no time limit, meaning they will remain where you left them until they are destroyed or scooped back up. They can only be deployed in unowned galaxies or galaxies that you or your team owns. They also cannot be placed in galaxies that cannot be built in, such as very high danger factor galaxies.

Offensive Drones
These drones have a time limit. Once the time is up they vanish, so be sure to scoop them before that.
Stationary Drones
These drones must be deployed in a clear space, and have a time limit. As such, they are used for combat. Once deployed they remain where they were left until tractored to a different position, or picked up and moved somewhere else.

Mobile Drones
Mobile Drones follow their deployer around at a speed of about 200. They also can be deployed while over objects.
