Once you have the boss kill for a given skill and if you don’t win the roll for the skill commod you can complete some missions to get one by yourself! Here’s how:

Go to the [[Allied Staging Sector]], dock at the Paxian base to get the mission for the commod, which requires Allied Commendations. Go to the EF base, get both missions -- they each give you a random item that unlocks one of several possible missions.

Getting & Using Allied Commendations

Once you have the boss kill for a given skill and if you don’t win the roll for the skill commod you can complete some missions to get one by yourself!
