Remote Control (abbreviated RC) is a skill that lets you use slaves and capture ships of a tech level up to your Remote Control level. For example, if you have Remote Control 5 you may only use tech 5 or less ships. Remote control requires Piloting skill of equal or greater level. For more information, see the section at the bottom of the page.
Each level of RC gives a bonus +1500 shield to slaves, maxing out at +27,000 at level 18, 28500 at level 19, 30,000 at level 20.
It costs 3 skill points per level.

Other Important Information
The Remote Control skill also determines the maximum number of slaves you can have at any given time. Each RC level gives you 1 slave slot. Each slave takes up a number of slots equal to its tech level divided by 2, rounding up. For example, a tech 5 Hot Rod slave would take up 3 slave slots. Tech 0 ships take up 1 slot each.
There is also a swarm limit. The maximum number of combat slaves you can have equals half of your slave slots. For example, at Remote Control 10 the maximum amount of combat slaves you can have active at once is 5. With Remote Control 10 (10 slots) and Slave Research 4 (4 slots), the maximum number of combat slaves you can have active is 7 (10 + 4 = 14 slots / 2) There are exceptions for levels 1-3, level 1 allows 1 slave, level 2 and 3 both allow 2 slaves.
Combat slots and Trading (and if FC, wild slave slots) slots are seperate, so you have two sets of slots, each equal to the amount of Remote Control you have. So if you had RC 4, for example, you could have 2 Tech 4 ships equipped with Combat Controlbots for fighting alongside you, as well as 4 Tech 2 ships equipped with regular controlbots for trading.
When activating a slave a note in events gives you an update as to how many slots you have left.
